The president of United States will travel to Saudi Arabia in his first foreign visit after inauguration. President Donald Trump’s imminent travel to Saudi Arabia has multiple overtones for the countries within the region. The meeting between Trump and deputy crown prince Mohammed bin Salman takes place while the preparations for a big deal of arms between the two countries exceeding millions of dollars has been made so far
Mohammad Bin Salman is in fact the ruler of the Saudi Arabia after King Salman, his father, has been incapacitated at the age of 81. Bin Salman is famous for oppression, impulsive behavior towards critics, and harsh reactions to any sort of protest.
Less than a year after his father became king in January 2015, the BND German intelligence agency issued a warning that Saudi Arabia had adopted “an impulsive policy of intervention” abroad and blamed this on the deputy crown prince whom it portrayed as a naïve political gambler.
Obama’s role in Yemen was one of support while in his latest weeks of presidency, he refrained from arming Saudis against Yemen. Obama said the mass killing of civilians and reports about war crimes made it take this new policy.
This is while, from the beginning of war in march 2015, reports from multiple international human rights organizations proved that the Saudis are killing civilians and bombing hospitals, hotels, schools, and public places.
The New president of the United States travels Saudi Arabia to give a new message to Riyadh after recent grudges. THAAD missile base and other arms are sort of gifts for Saudis to get the control back over the region and implement their plans via this violent country of the region.
The next target which seems to be a common aim between the two countries is assessed to be Iran. The deputy crown prince will have plans to get the aides from Trump to have a political and potentially military assault against Iran. He already expressed his desire to have a military intervention in Iran in an interview with al-Arabiya TV and Saudi TV.
Accusing Iran of “planning to seize Mecca and to establish their rule over all the 1.6 billion Muslims in the world,” Bin Salman says he will be the one who takes the war into the soil of Iran before its start in Saudi Arabia. Trump’s attitudes toward Iran is in accordance with Saudis and having the aggressive country of the region to implement its plans seems desirable.
